homemade tom yum, a thai specialty. i fell in love with this soup when i spent some time in southeast asia a few years ago. it is a culmination of so many flavors that is just so scrumptious! shrimp can always be replaced with chicken, beef or tofu. i personally prefer it with shrimp.
i got all of the ingredients at viet hoa (beltway 8 & beechnut). i started with a recipe from “the food of thailand” cook book as a base, but when using recipes, i always browse over at the beginning and then make it my own from there. adding and subtracting where i feel necessary.
